The Arizona Community Clinical Psychology Training Group, ACCPT.G, is a group of clinical psychologists committed to creating and maintaining clinical psychology internships and post-doctoral training opportunities in community-based settings to benefit children and families who are indigent, less fortunate, or lacking a traditional intact family structure. The theoretical and philosophical emphases of our approach are Contemporary Psychoanalytic and Existential-humanistic. Cognitive-behavioral strategies and other techniques are employed as needed. Our mission is to provide in-depth and on-going services with an open-ended commitment to the children and their families for as long as it might be beneficial to them to avail themselves of our services.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide and facilitate psychotherapy and psychodiagnostic services for psychological healing development to "familess"* and homeless children and adolescents. It is our hope and belief hat this will provide a unique resource to our community. Our professional role is to provide excellent clinical psychology services that are needed for the children. We are able to provide staff training and colloquia to help educate the staff, the interns, and the port-doctoral residents. We believe we are unique to the community in that we are the only program to offer in-depth and long-term psychoanalytic care for the children.

The creation of a clinical psychology internship program that is community-based, uses an in-depth approach, and is committed to long-term care is unique in the Phoenix-metropolitan area. The program will be primarily psychoanalytic and is open to using any and all other approaches, including cognitive behavioral techniques, where appropriate. It is our intent to make every effort to bring new and deeper ways of understanding and treating the mental health care needs of the children and families involved in the various community programs that we serve.

Since it is clear such a program could not be achieved through any singular effort, our goal is to include those in the community who can identify with our mission and who desire to support our program through donations (monetary or otherwise), encouragement, and ideas in achieving the goals of ACCPT.G.

* "familess": this new word is meant to supplant the awkward phrase "without a family."
