The Arizona Community-Based Clinical Psychology Training Group (ACCPT-G)

Our mission is to create a Clinical Psychology Internship and Post-Doctoral Residency Program in the Phoenix-Metropolitan area that is community based. This program will offer alternative methods (Contemporary Psychoanalytic) of understanding and treating the mental health needs of children and families. ACCPT-G offers in-depth, long-term, psychoanalytic therapy to indigent, disadvantaged, and familess children in our community.

Spearheading this effort are Dr. Felix Salomon, Clinical Psychologist, Psychoanalyst and Director of Clinical Training for ACCPT-G, Jonathan Masters, Psy. D. Supervisor ACCPT-G and Nancy Heinonen, Ph.D., Certified Professional Counselor, and Director of Programs for ACCPT-G.

Job Description Internship/Post-Doc Training


The Arizona Community Clinical Psychology Training Group provides Master's and Doctoral level counselors and psychologists an excellent training experience under the direct supervision of Felix Salomon, PhD. and Nancy Heinonen, Ph.D. Applicants accepted by ACCPT-G will have an opportunity as an independent contractor to perform individual, marital, family, couples, children and group therapy.

Job Duties:
  • Maintain confidentiality of records relating to clients' treatment. Inform clients/patients of the exceptions to confidentiality.
  • Inform clients/patients of trainee status, identify supervisor by name, and provide contact information of supervisor.
  • Follow office procedures including charting, signed informed consent from client/patients.
  • Strict adherence to the Ethics Code of the ACA and APA
  • Encourage clients/patients to express their feelings and discuss what is occurring in their lives, and help them to develop insight into themselves and their relationships.
  • Guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for coping with their problems.
  • Prepare and maintain all required treatment records and reports.
  • Counsel clients and patients, individually and/or in group sessions, to assist in overcoming developmental and maladaptive personality and lifestyle issues.
  • Assist client/patients in working through insights and making adaptive changes on all levels.
  • Collect information about clients/patients through intake interviews, assessments and diagnosis.
  • Act as client/patient advocates in order to coordinate required services or emergency problems in crisis situations.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on clinical evaluations.
  • Counsel family members to assist them in understanding, dealing with identified client/patients when appropriate.
  • Read recommended books, references and materials assigned by supervisor. Discuss readings with supervisor.
  • Attend recommended clinical and ethical continuing education conferences.
  • Immediately notify supervisor of any emergent crisis situation(s). Supervisor shall be available 24/7 by cell phone.
  • Keep appointments and punctuality as one of the highest standards.
  • Trainee shall be required to present case dynamics during individual and group supervision.
