Mathilda Cantor, Ph.D.

Dr, Canter's contributions to the psychological community, both locally and nationally, span many years.  Dr. Canter earned her doctor's degree from ASU in 1965. In addition to her private practice, 1966 to the present,, she has served on numerous boards and committees: most notably the APA (American Psychological Association) Board of Directors, Chair and Vice-chair of the American Psychological Association Ethics Committee, Chair of the committee which wrote the 1992-2002 APA Code of Ethics on which the current code is based.  Dr. Canter is first author of "Ethics for Psychologists: A Commentary on the APA Ethics Code" and served for 10 years on the Arizona State Board of Psychologist Examiners. Serving as Consultant to the Maricopa County Juvenile Court and Florence Crittenden Services highlights her interest in child and adolescent development.   Matty, as her friends call her, has received far too many awards both locally and nationally in her long career to mention.  She is a Fellow of the APA, and was recognized as a Distinguished Practitioner of the National Academies.  We are fortunate and excited to have Dr. Canter speak on Ethics and Legal Issues to our group.
